1. Physical Discipline: Hepburn used her body every way she could, from tennis to posing naked. Seeing as I am out of shape and lazy, this is going to be one of my focuses. I am going to WORK OUT three times a week, and find ONE NEW INTERESTING WAY OF USING MY BODY every day...in theory.
2. High Standards in Yourself: Hepburn had only the highest standards for herself, and practiced them in ACTION, not just in thought. I am going to try to fight mediocrity, in both thought and action.
3. High Standards in Others: Hepburn only the highest standards in others and surrounded herself only with people she deemed worthwhile, interesting, and met those standards. I am going to try and do the same. Life's too short to waste it on the idiots and the inconsiderate.
4. Etiquette: Being from another era, and having an excellent upbringing, Hepburn had a great understanding of etiquette. Whether it be entertaining, dining, or just meeting people in the street, I am going to try and execute those same principles.
5. Attention to Detail: Hepburn was super aware of the details. It relates back to her high standards. In her use of language, her penmanship, her articulation, even her flower arrangements, she never settled for "just okay". I'm going to try and do the same.
6. Crisis Management: When crisis broke down her door, Hepburn broke down crisis. She fought it hard, fast, practically, with her feet firmly planted in the earth. She never made things a bigger deal than they needed to be, and she "never complained, never explained." Again, I'm going to try and do the same.
7. Confidence: Everyone has confidence issues and Hepburn is no exception. But when she felt fearful of her own worth, or afraid of what people thought of her, she did a damn good job of hiding it. This is going to be a tricky one...
8. Appreciation: She appreciated the little things. Her drink before dinner, a walk in the sunset, good food. I think this one will be fun.
9. Sucking the Meat from Life's Bones: Self-explanatory. As a friend of mine says, "if you don't go, you won't see. And if you don't see, you've missed something."
10. Love: "Love has nothing to do with what you are expecting to get — only what you are expecting to give — which is everything. What you will receive in return varies. But it really has no connection with what you give. You give because you love and cannot help giving."A quote from the lady herself...and that's all I'm going to post on that.
Here's to a glorious adventure!
With a smile,
Moise
